The Policy Innovation Centre (PIC) is the first national institutionalised behavioural initiative in Africa supporting governments and stakeholders to make behaviorally informed decisions and generate contextually relevant evidence for high-impact interventions in critical thematic areas. The PIC is an initiative of the Nigeria Economic Summit Group (NESG). The PIC setup was funded by the Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation (BMGF)

 Location: Abuja

The Policy Innovation Centre is seeking to hire a Monitoring and Evaluation Intern to support the M&E team in tracking and assessing the performance and impact of all projects.

Duties and Responsibilities

1. Design and Implement the M&E System:

  • Participate in developing and implementing a result-based M&E plan to generate information related to project implementation. 
  • Participate in designing data collection tools, and templates.
  • Participate in routine data collection and analysis to determine progress achieved.

2. Project Information Management

  • Assist in tracking the project's output and outcome level results on a periodic basis in close coordination with the project's implementing team as well as with Implementing Partners (IPs)
  • Support data collection, verification, and compilation from the field as stipulated in the M&E plan.
  • Update and maintain the project database. 

3. M&E Development Support

  • Support the M&E Advisor in providing technical support to staff members on all M&E related activities including training of staff members on M&E concepts, skills, and tools.
  • Contribute to the design TOR, training materials, communication materials, and knowledge products related to the project and M&E System.

4. Quality Assurance

  • Assist in reviewing field-level assessment reports, baseline studies, and evaluation reports.
  • Support the M&E Advisor to ensure that reports from partners/consultants are complete and meet quality requirements.
  • Support in the development of a DQA checklist
  • Assist in the quality assessments of project design, implementation, and closure based on quality assurance standards.

5. Reporting and Documentation

  • Work with the project team to prepare periodic reports of the project by providing M&E related information.

Contribute to developing and managing knowledge products.

Qualifications/Job Requirements:

  • 1-2 years post-NYSC experience in Monitoring and Evaluation
  • Bachelor's or Master's degree in a relevant field such as Public Health, Monitoring and Evaluation, Management Information Systems, Social Sciences, Statistics, Development Studies, or a related discipline
  • Knowledge on developing an M&E system
  • Strong analytical skills and attention to detail, with the ability to work with both quantitative and qualitative data
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft and Google Suite, SPSS, and Power bi
  • Excellent writing and verbal communication skills
  • Ability to work both independently and collaboratively across multiple projects.
